Geingob not useless – SPYL

The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) has strongly condemned audio clips circulating on social media in which an unidentified person describes President Hage Geingob as useless for appointing Bonifatius Wakudumo as Kavango East governor.

SPYL Kavango East regional secretary Anselm Marungu denounced the two recordings in which the unidentified person speaks Thimbukushu.

Several allegations were made against Wakudumo, while painting him as unfit to be governor.

Geingob was described as ‘thiporoporo’, which translates to ‘useless’.

Apologise

Marungu said they expect the person to retract his statement and apologise.

“The Swapo Party Youth League therefore condemns this in the strongest possible terms it deserves,” Marungu said.

He also used the opportunity to explain that Geingob had every right to appoint Wakudumo as governor.

“It is very much important for all of us to understand that appointments in this regard are the prerogative of the president and therefore the Swapo Party Youth League is calling on all residents of the Kavango East Region to respect the decision of the head of state and render the necessary support to the new governor,” Marungu said.

He said the new governor is human and that his past should not be used to discredit his appointment.

“What is factual about human nature is that we are all subject to errors and that is why we need each other, so that we can rectify and build one another. I believe that in life there is always room for improvement, both personally and professionally,” Marungu said.

Stop playing

“We are further warning the self-proclaimed activist to stop playing with our two governors for Kavango East and Kavango West. We want you to stop discrediting our leaders for your political reasons.”

Wakudumo is a former Mashare Constituency councillor and served as the chairperson of the Kavango regional council before the region was split in two.
