Galz career day set for Saturday
Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) Galz and Goals programme is organising its first Career Day for the 600 girls registered in the programme.
The event will take place on Saturday, 2 July at the NFA Technical Centre.
Activities are set to start from 9:00-12:00 and will offer the girls information and guidance on which career to choose, what opportunities are out there, what it takes to obtain a certain profession and more.
It will also offer encouragement and motivation for pursuing a formal education.
Honourable Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, will be visiting the event.
“We are very honoured that the minister will make time to visit the event,” says Jackie Gertze, the national manager of NFA Galz and Goals.
“We trust that the Career Day will be a valuable contribution towards the empowerment of young girls and their motivation to make healthy choices for a bright future.
The Career Day falls in line with the objectives of the Galz and Goals programme as it encourages the girls to stay in school, take their education and career seriously and learn to take care of themselves, make healthy choices and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Ministries, companies, universities, organisations, representatives of professions and entrepreneurs have been invited to put up booths where they can provide information, answer questions and interact with the girls visiting their booth.
Football players and coaches will be talking to the girls about managing both football and work or studies and the advantages of pursuing an alternative career in addition to the football.
Fun football related activities and competitions will cover the football field for the visitors’ enjoyment.
