I'm sure we can all agree that 2020 started off with a bang – most of the music that's been dropped so far has been nothing but crazy.
Namibian artists have been in top form, huh? As we close off the month of February, tjil shares some of the latest songs we think deserve some mention, praise or scrutiny.
Sabela – Timo Kevin
Before making this song available for streaming on Donlu Africa, Timo Kevin asked his contacts on WhatsApp, who wanted the song before its official release, to delete all the songs on their phones and screen record the process as proof before he would share it with them. Over 300 people did it.
He's for the kids. You know those weird American rappers who have cult followings that the not-so-updated people only hear about when they overdose? Minus the overdosing part, Kevin is in the same WhatsApp group. He has soldiers rallying behind his music. Sabela is an Amapiano song with potential to be the next big hit, if promoted adequately.
Xuro – Sam-E Lee Jones
What can be said about Sam-E Lee Jones that you haven't told yourself? The music producer has never been one to remain within comfort zones, and he again proved this with Xuro, a love song. What is February without a love song, right?
God Level – Gino Luv
Gospel musician Gino Luv has really been pushing himself with his music these past couple of months and God Level gave us a more versatile version of the artist that showcased his ability as a musician, not just a gospel singer. The song is available on Donlu Africa. “I have had this idea of creating a simple catchy 'church lingo' hook that everybody can relate to. I just wanted to represent Christ in a lofty manner through what I am passionate about,” he said. The song was produced by Rolee from Swakopmund.
Believe Me – Phred Got 1
Phred Got1 has never been shy to voice his opinions on things happening in the music arena. On this song he addresses the industry in general and warns against losing yourself to societal pressures.
“Always stay true to yourself, because if you are not true to yourself, nobody else will be,” he said.
Believe Me is a freestyle he put out in preparation of his forthcoming official single to be shared at music outlets soon.
Champion – Aye-F4R
Aye-F4R teamed up with Yung Kavin for his first offering of the year titled Champion. The beat has old school vibes to it but more than anything, we really needed this version of Aye-F4R, because it's making us feel good, and who doesn't want to feel like a champion, huh? The wait was totally worth it and this is a reminder of Aye-F4R's artistic abilities.
