It’s new music galore on the Namibian music scene, so tjil put together a list of some of the latest releases that you should add to your festive season playlist.
Chuku – Amazonkies ft Exit and Samuel Ngodji
Ongwediva-based Afro-pop and Kwaito Trio Amazonkies recently released their latest song ‘Chuku’. The dance song features Namibian Kwaito veterans Exit and Samuel Ngodji previously known as Quondja. The song’s music video was shared on YouTube on Sunday, 7 November and before going to print it had garnered 9 507 views, testament to how well it is being received.
I Need You – The Rhythm Namibia
A song that stands out in terms of its genre and vocals is ‘I Need You’ by a relatively underground Namibian DJ duo The Rhythm, made up of DJ Kido and DJ Sandile. Serving beautiful vocals on the House song is South Africa’s Ray-T. The song is in English and isiXhosa. The duo’s manager, Dylan Jowey, shared that ‘I Need You’ is lifted from the duo’s forthcoming EP. The song is available on YouTube.
Owa dimbwange – ML
Musician ML could have not picked the right single for the season. She recently released visuals to ‘Owa dimbwange’. The song is lifted from her 2021 album ‘Money Music’. ‘Owa dimbwange’ is almost like a sonic bath, that’s how pure it is. All these can be attributed to how musical the song is. In the song she incorporates traditional elements like never before. Known as one of the best live music performers, watching her perform this song must be awesome.
Etitano – Gotty Gwetu ft Rodney Rich
‘Etitano’ is a weekend anthem by Rundu native Gotty Gwetu. The song is a party song that is bubbling with potential to be one of the party anthems this festive season, if pushed and marketed well. This song got us on our feet dancing and it is safe to say that the festive season is taken care of.
