OSHAKATI

A former Namibian Defence Force member was

remanded in custody on Thursday afternoon after his first appearance before the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court after he allegedly attacked his 24-year-old lover with a knife.

The 57-year-old soldier, Konrad Kalimbo, is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Frieda Hilooloka, who remains in hospital fighting for her life.

Police continue to investigate the case.

Omusati police commissioner Titus Shikongo last week said the incident occurred at Epaya location in Oshikuku town on Tuesday evening.

Shikongo said it is alleged that the two were socialising at a local cuca shop they started arguing.

It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim twice in the back, once in the stomach and once in the hand.

Hilooloka was initially taken to the Oshikuku hospital but was later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.

Her attacker fled the scene but was arrested at Oshikuku on Wednesday.

“Her condition is described as very serious. Domestic violence and alcohol abuse were involved,” Shikongo said last week.

Murder

In a separate incident on Friday, 17 September 2021, Aina Ilonga was stabbed to death and her throat was slit, allegedly by her boyfriend, Nore Berthold Untag.

Shikongo said the incident happened at around 20:00 at Oluno village in the Onesi Constituency.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was walking from Omikwadhaambeli location, where she works at a mahangu mill.

“She was allegedly accompanied by a man from the same village, heading home to Ongwali ‘A’ village. When they were approaching Oluno village, the suspect emerged from the surrounding bushes, attacked the deceased with a pocket knife and stabbed her multiple times, also slit her throat resulting in the deceased's death at the scene,” Shikongo said.

He said it is alleged that Untag (32) had been in a long-term relationship with Ilonga and had three children together.

Shikongo said it is also alleged that Ilonga had ended their relationship last week.

The suspect appeared before the Outapi Magistrate's Court on Monday, 20 September 2021 and was remanded in custody for further police investigations.
