Desmond signs to Paris-based label

It takes courage to re-evaluate your identity and decide to completely change it. A change that comes solely from a natural evolution is considered a good one; even though many may not comprehend the move. You know it’s real when you have to sacrifice social treasures and stature because of it.
With that being said, Desmond - formerly known as Lil D - is an ideal example of this. His face is familiar, but his identity has changed to the point he is rewriting just who is in the music industry.
After what can be perceived as a hiatus by many, Desmond is back, and this time around, he’s making international moves. tjil hit him up to talk signing to Believe Digital.
Believe - also known as Believe Digital, Believe Distribution Services and Believe Music - is a Paris-based record label and music distributor.
On how the deal came about, Desmond said they’ve been negotiating since last year but finally came to an agreement just recently.
“The deal changes the entire trajectory of my reach as an artist,” he said.
He added that he hopes to increase his fan base on a continental and international level, saying it's going to help him better monetise his content and help him learn from people in spaces Namibians have been struggling to penetrate in the music industry for the longest time.
He disclosed that he already has new music he has been holding onto for a while now and the deal is the perfect set-up to get back to releasing music again. “Now it's just a matter of consulting with the team and seeing what would work best going forward and when exactly we can drop,” he said.
