Day to save:
Today is World Savings Day, following the global tradition started in 1924 by the World Society of Savings Banks in Italy. Meant to emphasise and promote a savings culture worldwide, the focus has switched to developing countries where large parts of the population are unbanked. “The aim of World Savings Day is to enable as many people as possible to open bank accounts as they are a much safer means of keeping one’s money,†Bank Windhoek's spokesperson Marelize Horn said yesterday.
