Cricket never stopped

During the Covid-19 pandemic, our cricket players trained hard to prepare for the season, as we were told that we are definitely going to play cricket this year. However, only our high school players trained during the lockdown as our cricket coach did not want to take chances with the younger players.

Our first two games were played in Grootfontein. The first one was against Tsumeb and the second one was against Otjiwarongo where the players from Grootfontein and Tsumeb made a combined team.

The week thereafter, we travelled to Gobabis where we played a 40-over game. It was a long and hard game but every player gave his and her utmost best and enjoyed it. Two weeks after that, we made a combined team with Tsumeb and went to Windhoek to play against the Windhoek Namspire team, and after that, the Otjiwarongo team again.

In another game against Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo the week after, Pieter Grobbelaar scored a fantastic 57 runs, his highest score so far this season.

Since most parts of the country went into lockdown, we could not play any more, but the training still went on.

Now that the country is not in lockdown any more, we are hoping to start playing games as soon as possible.
