Cricket Namibia (CN) recently introduced its Over 40s League, a platform initiated to accommodate players 40 and older.
The hope with the league is to develop and prepare players for international cricket opportunities, develop veteran's cricket, and to identify players who can represent Namibia in future at the Over 50s World Cup.
CN participated in the Over 50s World Cup as an invitational side this year in Cape Town, and this participation spurred on the creation of the local league.
Open draft
According to CN, this will be in a franchise format where players will be drafted into different teams, and sponsors will have an opportunity to own teams.
The initiative will be an open draft format made available for interested individuals, who can register via cricketnamibia.com.
The first round of the four-team competition will take place on 5 and 6 December, with the second round scheduled for 30 and 31 January.
