Clash of the fighters
Martial arts fighters will represent the country at the Destiny competition in South Africa.
Walvis Bay Sports Martial Arts Club recently hosted their first interclub competition.
Three clubs from Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Windhoek participated in the competition, for a qualifying spot to compete in the Destiny 2017 competition.
This team will represent Namibia in South Africa.
In semi points fighting boys, Adrian Esterhuizen and Marko Van Zyl (6 -7 years, beginner), Dawid Bisset (8 -9 years, intermediate), Martin Bisset (10-11 years, intermediate) qualified for the Namibian team.
Nicolas Jalon (12-13 years, beginner), Karl Dedekind, Ray Gryffenberg and Andrew Garbers (12-13 years, intermediate) also booked their places for the competition.
Wolfgang Nitz (12-13 years, advanced), James-Dean Goagoses and Brendan Beukes (14-15 years, beginner), and Macquilen Brussel (14-15, intermediate) qualified for the Namibian team too.
For the semi points fighting team (girls) the qualifiers were Aizzah Ndandu, Surika Roodman, Waneka Venter (10-11years, beginner), Shani Visser (12 – 13 years, beginner), Ivonne Nitz (12-13 years, advanced), Caleigh Jordaan (14-15 years, beginner) and Jennifer Krauer (16-17 years, beginner).
For the women, 55-65kg, Elmone Rhode and Natascha Nell secured their places, as well as Lucy Roodman, Dgini Visser in the 60-69 kg, Andree Herle, 60 – 69 kg women intermediate and Sannet du Pratt, women 70-79kg, intermediate.
In the men's semi points fighting category, the qualifiers are: Ryno Gouws, Jacobus Potgieter, Rainier Pretorius (66-75kg, intermediate), Danie Bachmann (66-75 kg, advanced), Darren Nell, Zeromski Louw, Nicholas Krauer (76-85 kg, beginner), Ladislaa Mainjala, Miguelo Julio, Kenton Walters (76-85kg, advanced), Dale Smith, Jannie Gouws and Nico Kotze (over 90kg, intermediate).
