Boy accused of murder granted bail

A 14-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old to death at the Kanaan A informal settlement in Gobabis this past Saturday has been granted bail of N$2 000.
It is alleged the accused stabbed Anton Goeieman in the neck with a knife during a fight after Goeieman allegedly accused the suspect of stealing cocaine and sandals from him.
The accused made his first appearance in the Gobabis Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Eden Iyambo, who postponed the case to 13 October. The matter was postponed to allow the accused to acquire legal representation and for further police investigations. Prosecutor Marchell Hoeb agreed to the granting of bail on condition that the accused's mother ensures that he attends court. According to court documents seen by Nampa, the bail conditions were explained to the accused, including that a warrant of arrest will be issued and his bail provisionally cancelled should he fail to appear in court in future.
