With Bobby WVDK’s latest album being shared widely on social media, tjil reached out to the musician to unpack the making of this project and what he hopes to achieve with it.
tjil (t): You released your album recently, how’s the response been so far?
Bobby WVDK (BW): the album has been getting positive feedback, people have been asking for it for a long time. I also believe the fact that we have USBs instead of CDs makes it a special drop and the turnout at the album release party was great.
t: With the album out, how many songs can we expect to be complemented with visuals?
BW: We are filming the whole album. If there’s anything coronavirus has taught us in music, it’s the importance of visuals. We dropped a music video this week and we will drop another one just before Christmas.
t: Describe the sonic direction you took on this album?
BW: I did a lot of trap music; hence people are calling me the Oshiwambo trap lord.
t: What goals have you set for Self-Made or Never Made?
BW: We want to sell thousands of copies. We also plan on having numerous shows to serve as the campaign for the album. We also want to the album to go international, but most importantly, I just want people to love and enjoy it.
