To the surprise of fans and industry insiders alike, Blue Waters have appointed a new interim committee.
This decision was made public in a letter written by the club's Elders Committee.
“The Elders Committee of the Blue Waters Sports Club, through guidance and consultations with the remaining members of the interim committee, herewith announces a new caretaker coach interim executive committee that will administer the affairs of the club on an interim basis as from September 2020 until February 2021.”
The committee will wait for the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) to elect a permanent committee, no later than 31 May 2021.
The committee
Former Blue Waters executive member Robert Shimooshili was elected as the acting chairman, while former referee Edwardth Boy-Boy Ndjadila is the acting vice chairperson.
Gerda Seibes will be the acting treasurer.
The club further decided to select additional members who will represent the team in other divisions.
Slugger D Imbili will represent the elders of the club, while King Mandume Muatunga will represent the members and supporters, including media relations.
Matheus Kambala will be part of the football representative team, while Juanita Witbeen will take up the netball structures and Dallas Hangula will be part of the cricket representatives of the club.
Tommy Ikela has been tasked with the marketing of the club and will be required to ensure that the club gains more sponsors and to expand the image of the club.
Controversy
Questions marks were, however, raised at the committee's decision to select former Ndjadila, who is serving an eight-year ban from football activities since 2017.
Ndjadila was implicated in a match fixing scandal during a match between Angolan club Kubuscorp de Palanca and El Merreik of Sudan in Luanda on 4 April 2015.
Ipinge stands firm
In another twist, club executive committee member Knowledge Ipinge maintained that the executive committee of Blue Waters remains as it was before.
“We were put in place by an AGM and the only thing which could remove us will be a constitutional AGM and not an elder's council.
“As far as we are concerned, the new group that was introduced is not authentic until a constitutional AGM is called or we as the current executive resign from our positions.”
The club, however, stated that the decision is final.
