Basketballers selected for Gaborone tourney
The Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) selected two teams during its annual 3X3 International Basketball Federation (IBF) Young Lions Cup tournament finals for under-18s, who will represent Namibia in Botswana early next year.
Young Beasts and The Janitors were the winners in the female and male categories, respectively, during the games played at the Katutura Youth Complex in Windhoek on Saturday, and will represent the country in Gaborone in the u-18 games slated for January 2019.
The 3X3 basketball version is very popular internationally, and as such, the NBF has branched out the sport countrywide.
The NBF said in a statement that what began as regional qualifying tournaments, led to a very eventful selection tournament in the capital this past weekend.
All the regions sent their top-three teams to Windhoek to compete, in a bid to become either the male or female representatives in Gaborone.
