Omaheke regional governor Pijoo Nganate has asked Agribank to extend its presence to other constituencies of the Omaheke Region.
Nganate made this remark in a statement read on his behalf by acting chief regional officer Ephat Tjijenda at the inauguration of Agribank’s new branch in Gobabis.
The branch, which had been operating on the outskirts of the town for many years, has been moved to the central business area to be closer to the people.
Nganate said the relocation enhances access to the bank’s services and reflects the bank’s commitment to customer care.
“Omaheke Region has … a lion’s share of the livestock sector, not only by looking at the domination of agriculture as employer but also the number of livestock in the production area and that are circulating in the market on a monthly basis,” he said.
He said farmers in the region deserve to be given excellent service by Agribank.
He believes the bank should extend more loans to the youth and women in the agricultural sector.
According to Nganate, the region offers untapped opportunities for substituting imports of goods and services and assisting entrepreneurs in diversifying the regional economy.
