Agility Orthopaedic Centres expanding rapidly

Agility Orthopaedic Centres services are spreading fast. After the established practice in Windhoek (Eros) and the Walvis Bay practice launched in February this year, Agility has just opened a second outlet in Windhoek, while currently preparing to equip a treatment centre in Swakopmund. Thus, boasting four centres in Namibia available to patients by the end of the year.
The new Windhoek centre which opened in September is situated in Suiderhof at the premises of Evolve Sport and Rehabilitation Centre. The multidisciplinary team of biokineticists, physiotherapists and doctors look provide full orthopaedic rehabilitation services according to DBC global protocols.
The Documentation Based Care (DBC) functional orthopaedic treatment system uses an individual patient-centric active training program with specially designed and extremely effective training equipment. The DBC Active Spine and Shoulder Treatment System, used for treatment of long-term back, neck and shoulder problems was developed in Finland over the past 20 years. Today, the DBC network (DBC Global) provides treatment in more than 22 countries on five continents, including South Africa and Namibia, following the goal to provide the best possible care, efficiently, with a focus on the cost benefit to the patient and funds.
The new and first DBC-based orthopaedic treatment centre in Swakopmund will be situated at the Dome’s Health and Training Centre (2nd floor), ready for patients by the end of this year. Agility has already teamed up with professional biokineticists, physiotherapists and general practitioners to treat patients professionally at the location.

After initial assessment patients are prescribed a 3-week or 6-week intensive rehabilitation programme of sessions twice a week with the multidisciplinary team. Through international evidence-based protocols the Agility DBC programme aims to reduce pain and improve functionality. The Agility treatment programme is fully covered by some medical aid funds.
Relieving, removing, and possibly permanently eradicating musculoskeletal conditions through rehabilitation is a highly effective form of treatment practised in many places and now being offered in Namibia.
