AR boycotts land conference

The Affirmative Repositioning movement this afternoon said it will also not participate in the second national land conference scheduled for next week in Windhoek. The AR withdrawal follows that of several traditional authorities and non-governmental organisations who were expected to attend the land indaba. “Indeed, the land conference that is scheduled to take place next week must be seen in the same context. It is an attempt by the regime to gain moral high grounds and policy legitimacy, through manipulative tactics, while doing nothing about the suffering of our people,” AR said in a statement. Earlier in the day, the Ovaherero Traditional Authority (OTA), the Nama Traditional Leaders Association (NTLA), the Damara King’s Council, Nangof, Swanu, Nudo and the Trade Union Congress of Namibia (Tucna) all indicated they will not participate in the land conference.
