Otesa Civil Engineering welcomed Toini Alweendo to its dynamic team at the start of April.

Appointed as the company’s new digital marketing coordinator, Alweendo brings a strong combination of international education and marketing experience to the role.

Alweendo holds a bachelor’s degree in computer applications from the Acharya Institute in India and a master’s in digital marketing from the International School of Hospitality, Tourism and Languages in Spain, bringing a global perspective to Namibia’s marketing landscape.

Her professional experience includes roles at Adweb Africa and iMarketing Consultant, where she honed her skills in marketing, social media and sales.

In her role at Otesa, Alweendo will oversee all digital marketing activities, including managing social media platforms, developing SEO strategies, and creating website content – all with the goal of enhancing the company’s online presence and visibility.

“It’s about making sure our digital footprint truly reflects the value we offer,” she said.

Asked why she is well-suited to the role, Alweendo said her previous experience as a marketing consultant and social media manager laid a solid foundation for her current responsibilities.

“Those roles taught me how to manage multiple projects, connect with audiences online, and build impactful campaigns,” she explained.

Ever-evolving world

In her day-to-day work, Alweendo draws on her strengths in social media management, content creation, time management and client communication – all essential in today’s fast-paced digital landscape.

Reflecting on the work so far, he said: “The team has been very welcoming and supportive. Everyone values teamwork and is open to new ideas, which makes collaboration easy and exciting.”

A key challenge in her chosen field, she noted, is keeping pace with the ever-evolving digital marketing landscape.

“To stay relevant, I plan to keep learning, experimenting and adapting strategies that support Otesa’s growth,” she explained.

Outside of work, Alweendo enjoys creating content, spending time with loved ones and practising wellness through stretching and staying active, showing a balanced approach to life and work.

Her advice to aspiring sales and marketing professionals: “Learn how to communicate, understand customer needs and be open to feedback. Internships are great for building real-world confidence.” Her broader message? “Always be willing to learn and grow. Set goals, take small steps daily, and surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you.”
