OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP: The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) joined hands with the Grootfontein municipality, the local community and police recently in a town-wide clean-up campaign.
The troops from army headquarters, the air base and co-located formations and units within Lieutenant General Dimo Hamaambo Garrison started at the military base and moved through the town into nearby informal settlements, helping clear waste and promote hygiene.
Their efforts inspired others to pitch in, including school learners, police officers and residents – all united in making Grootfontein a cleaner and safer place.
Mayor Talitha Namati Garises led the initiative and encouraged the citizens to take pride in their surroundings, reminding everyone that keeping the town clean is a shared responsibility.
The clean-up endeavour did not only improve the cleanliness of the environment, but it also strengthened the spirit of oneness and cooperation within the Grootfontein community spirit.
