One person dead, several injured in two accidents

One person died and several others were injured in two separate road accidents in the Erongo region over the weekend.
On Friday night a double cab bakkie overturned about 100 metres from the Wilhelmstal turn-off on the gravel road to Omaruru. According to the Erongo police, the 25-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll several times. All five occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
A 29-year-old passenger, Peter Jeromi Kumeni, died on the scene. The driver and three other passengers sustained light to moderate injuries. They were taken to Okahandja State Hospital, where three were later discharged. The driver remains hospitalised.
In a separate incident on Saturday, three people were injured in a collision between a sedan and a truck near Karibib. One person sustained serious injuries.
LifeLink Emergency Services responded with two ambulances, stabilised the patients on site and transported them to Usakos State Hospital. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
