Police in the Erongo Region have seized drugs and illicit goods with an estimated street value of more than N$2.5 million since October 2025, as authorities intensify operations against narcotics trafficking and related crimes. Erongo Police Regional Commander Commissioner Nikolaus Kapirika Kupembona said the seizures were made during various police operations carried out from October last year to date. He said the total estimated street value of the confiscated items stands at N$2 512 937. According to Kupembona, the haul includes cannabis, mandrax tablets, crack cocaine, cocaine powder and crystal meth, as well as illicit cigarettes and alcohol. Police also seized abortion tablets, which are illegal to trade and possess outside regulated medical settings. Kupembona said the recoveries reflect sustained efforts by police to disrupt drug distribution networks in the region, which remains a key transit and consumption area due to its ports, tourism activity and transport links.
