JUST IN: Murder, rape accused in court

A 28-year-old man from Gobabis, accused of raping his girlfriend and subsequently stabbing and strangling her to death, appeared in the Windhoek High Court today.
The State alleges that in August 2020, Abel Mokalabatho followed the woman to a bathroom in a shebeen, where he raped her. He then forcibly took her to his house and raped her two more times before he killed her.
Mokalabatho allegedly concealed the body of the 27-year-old victim in a manhole near his residence.
He is currently facing charges of rape, kidnapping, murder, and obstructing the course of justice.
Mokalabatho has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He is currently detained at Windhoek Prison.
