Family offers N$10 000 reward to find murdered brother’s killer

The family of a Khorixas man who died after allegedly being stabbed has offered a N$10 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible, amid accusations that police have failed to provide updates into their relative's death since the incident late last year.Boykie Richard //Gowaseb was stabbed on 29 November 2025 after attending his sister’s wedding in Khorixas. His family said he later left the celebration and was on his way home when he was attacked in circumstances that remain unclear.Relatives believe an altercation may have occurred but say they have received no official information from police about what happened or who may be responsible.Following the stabbing, //Gowaseb was rushed to Windhoek for urgent medical treatment, where he was admitted in critical condition. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries nearly two weeks later and was pronounced dead on 12 December.Speaking to Namibian Sun on Tuesday, //Gowaseb's sister, Allah Contesa Lukas, said the family has been left without answers since the day of the incident.“We have received no information from the police – no updates, no progress, nothing,” Lukas said. “We don’t know what is happening with the case. There are no suspects, no arrests, no follow-up with the family and no court date scheduled.”She said the lack of communication has compounded the family’s grief and frustration as they continue to mourn their brother.“We just want justice,” Lukas said. “Our brother deserves that.”Slack communication //Gowaseb’s brother, Mathew Mike //Gowaseb, echoed these concerns, describing the police response as negligent.“Up until now, we have not been told anything,” he said. “That is why we decided to offer a reward. We are desperate for answers and justice for our brother.”The family has since circulated posters offering a N$10 000 reward to anyone who can provide credible information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the stabbing. Members of the public with information are urged to contact the Khorixas Police or investigating officers.This publication contacted the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Wilhelm Uupindi, for comment on 20 January. He said he was unable to speak to the media about the matter and referred Namibian Sun to the police public relations department.Several further attempts to obtain comment from police officials on the status of the investigation and the family’s claims of a lack of communication were unsuccessful.The case has raised concern among community members in Khorixas, with residents questioning the pace of investigations into violent crime and the level of communication between police and affected families.
