Namibian artist M-Gee is back in the spotlight with the release of his latest music video ‘Tara Nomeho’, a witty, vintage-styled visual that doubles as a social commentary and lead single from his forthcoming album.

Following the success of his 2023 genre-blending album ‘Gentleman’, which he describes as “one of the best I’ve ever written”, M-Gee is entering a new chapter that’s equal parts reflective and boundary-pushing. “Gentleman reminded the world of my ability and versatility,” he said. “I dabbled in country, classic R&B, and even dropped tracks that were therapeutic to people. Fans said my music should be sold in pharmacies.”

The new release, ‘Tara Nomeho’ featuring fellow Namibian artist TKB, is an extension of M-Gee’s storytelling ambitions. Produced by Kachazi, the track was crafted with intention, and its humorous tone belies a deeper message. “We recorded it earlier this year,” he revealed. “The concept came to me months after Kachazi gave me the beat. I didn’t want to rush it. I waited until I had the right story.”

Keep the peace

The video, directed collectively by DJ Sodo, TKB, and M-Gee himself, is soaked in vintage visuals, reinforcing the song’s playful but critical take on generational disconnects in modern relationships.

“This generation is on another level,” M-Gee remarked. “You can’t follow everything they do. Sometimes it’s better to protect your peace than chase explanations.”

While ‘Tara Nomeho’ is currently making waves, M-Gee also recently released the music video for ‘Cheater’, one of the most streamed tracks from the album ‘Gentleman’.

“Fans demanded a visual,” he explained. “It’s a song that resonates with youth and middle-aged audiences alike – especially those who’ve survived a midnight phone check gone wrong. The video was necessary.”

Songs matter

Though he remains tight-lipped on the title or release date of the upcoming album, M-Gee confirmed that ‘Tara Nomeho’ is a preview of what’s to come. “I’m working on an album, but I don’t plan on flooding it with too many tracks. I want every song to matter.”

Beyond the music, M-Gee is carving out a broader impact. He has been actively engaging with schools, using his platform to inspire young people, and recently participated in Bank Windhoek’s campaign competition. “Even though I didn’t take the top prize, the recognition was powerful,” he said. “It was a reminder that talent and creativity still count.”

With Tara Nomeho, M-Gee reaffirms his place not just as a hitmaker but as a thoughtful artist with a voice attuned to the complexities of Namibian society. His upcoming album is one fans should watch for.
