DStv has been recognized as Africa’s leading media brand, earning the title of Most Admired Media Brand at the prestigious Brand Africa 2025 Awards, held on Monday, 14 July in Windhoek .

In the Most Admired Media Brand category, SuperSport was ranked as the second most admired media brand, followed closely by kykNET in third place. This incredible recognition reaffirms DStv’s role as a trusted brand that continues to innovate and entertain viewers across Africa and beyond its borders

“We are delighted to be recognized as a brand that is most admired in Namibia,” said Roger Gertze, MultiChoice Namibia Managing Director. “Through the world-class international and local content that we offer using the latest cutting-edge technology, DStv is committed to remain the home of entertainment for all our viewers.”

Brand Africa is a well-known initiative and the only pan-African, research-led, non-commercial brand equity study of its kind, drawing insights from over 30 African countries that captures data from more than 85% of the continent’s population.

“Through research, we’ve found that Africans don’t buy ‘Africa’. Therefore, our goal is to have 50% of the most admired brands come from Africa by 2050,” said Thebe Ikalafeng, Brand Africa Founder and Chairman.

During her special remarks at the ceremony, Honourable Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, highlighted the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s 'Growth at Home' strategy, which includes a call to support and promote the 'Made in Namibia' brand.

"I am encouraged to see there is a deliberate effort to recognize the role brands play in shaping our country, our global reputation and competitiveness, not to mention the trust built. They contribute to shaping the society and the global village that we live in.”
