Woman killed in suspected accidental fire

A woman living with a disability died in a fire after her four-year-old cousin allegedly played with matches and set her bedroom alight at Ondjungulume village in the Omusati region last week.

According to Omusati regional commander Commissioner Ismael Basson, the incident occurred on Thursday at around 13:00. The deceased, who used a wheelchair, sustained serious injuries in the fire and later died.

It is alleged that the fire started when a bundle of grass was lit inside the house.
