President travels to Ghana, Tanzania
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will travel to Accra, Ghana, today to participate in a high-level international conference on reparatory justice following the United Nations' recognition of the transatlantic slave trade and enslavement of Africans as crimes against humanity.
The conference, hosted by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama from 18 to 19 June, will focus on advancing historical recognition, accountability, restitution and reparations for the lasting effects of slavery and colonialism.
Following the Ghana visit, Nandi-Ndaitwah will undertake a state visit to Tanzania from 20 to 21 June, where she is expected to hold bilateral talks with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and oversee the signing of cooperation agreements.
The visit will also include stops at historical sites linked to Namibia's liberation struggle.
Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to return to Namibia on 22 June.
