New industries, mines and energy minister takes the helm

Swapo backbencher in the National Assembly and former deputy information minister Modestus Amutse has been appointed as the new minister of industries, mines and energy, effective 2 December.
He replaces Natangue Ithete, who was dismissed from the position in October. Defence and veterans affairs minister Frans Kapofi briefly served in an acting capacity.
In announcing Amutse’s appointment, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah thanked Kapofi for holding the fort during the interim period.
