Man allegedly fathers own daughter\'s baby
Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case in which a man is suspected of repeatedly raped his daughter, who is currently 15, resulting in her becoming pregnant.
The incidents are believed to have occurred between 2023 and 2024 at the family’s home in Onandjandja village, Onesi Constituency.
According to police information, the suspect, who is the girl’s biological father, allegedly took her to a village in neighbouring Angola, where she stayed until she gave birth to a baby girl. "The father was living with his daughter. When he discovered she was pregnant, he sent her to Angola. By the time the mother reconnected with her daughter, the baby was already two months old," Omusati police commander Ismael Basson said.
The matter was reported to the police by the girl’s mother, who is aged 31.
Basson confirmed that the suspect is known to them but has not yet been arrested, as investigators await the outcome of a DNA test to establish paternity.
The 15-year-old mother is receiving psychosocial support from police officers and social workers while investigations continue, Basson further revealed.
