Kavango man loses arm in crocodile attack
A 69-year-old man from Mbapuka village lost his entire arm after surviving a crocodile attack on Sunday afternoon while collecting water from the Kavango River. Karen Muduva told Namibian Sun from his hospital bed that the crocodile struck as he turned his back to fill a bucket. He said the reptile suddenly surged from the shallow water and clamped its jaws around his arm. Villagers who heard his screams rushed to the riverbank and attempted to pull him free. During the struggle, the crocodile tore off his arm before releasing him and retreating into the river. Muduva was rushed for medical treatment and remains admitted at Rundu State Hospital, where he is receiving care. Authorities have not yet commented on whether further safety measures will be introduced along the river following the attack.
