DNA results in Hengari case done but still confidential – police
SHORT NEWS:
The Namibian Police have confirmed that DNA test results in the rape investigation involving former agriculture minister Mac Hengari have been finalised but will not be made public. Deputy police Inspector General Elias Mutota told Namibian Sun that the results have been handed to the prosecution team and will only be revealed in court. The tests form part of an investigation into allegations that Hengari raped a woman and fathered her child in 2022. Hengari, who served briefly as minister in April before being dismissed, and his 31-year-old co-accused pleaded not guilty in August to charges of obstructing justice and corruption. The case was postponed to 14 November for a decision by the prosecutor general on whether it will proceed to trial.
