JUST IN: Snake strikes man in police cell
A man (44) awaiting trial at Maltahöhe was bitten by a snake in a police cell early on Saturday.
According to the police, a cobra bit the man on his left arm. He was taken to the hospital in Mariental, and later transferred to the state hospital in Katutura.
His condition is stable.
The police said they have no idea how the snake got into the cell. It was killed immediately.
