NaTIS now accepts road carrier permit applications nationwide

RA brings permit services closer
The RA has also confirmed that work is underway on a long-term solution that will allow permit applications to be submitted online.
No Byline

The Roads Authority (RA) has announced the decentralisation of all road carrier permit applications to NaTIS regional offices across the country, a move aimed at improving accessibility and reducing costs for applicants.

The new arrangement will come into effect on 1 February, allowing applicants to submit their road carrier permit applications at any NaTIS office nationwide.

Previously, applicants were required to submit documents directly to the permits office in Windhoek, often resulting in additional courier expenses or long-distance travel.

The decentralisation forms part of ongoing efforts to bring essential services closer to communities while streamlining administrative processes, the RA said.

The change is expected to significantly ease the burden on applicants, particularly those based in remote towns and rural areas.

Applicants are required to ensure that all application forms are fully completed and accompanied by the necessary supporting documentation, including proof of payment for the relevant permit. NaTIS offices will function strictly as submission points for applications, as well as collection points for permits once they have been issued.

Changes

The services to be processed through NaTIS offices include applications for new road carrier permits, vehicle replacements on existing permits, transfers of permits between individuals, requests for duplicate permits, changes or additions to approved routes, as well as applications for temporary permits while awaiting approval under Section 20.

In towns where no NaTIS office is available, members of the public are encouraged to submit their applications at the nearest NaTIS office. The RA has also confirmed that work is underway on a long-term solution that will allow permit applications to be submitted online in the future.

Enquiries regarding the status of permit applications should continue to be directed to the permits office in Windhoek via email at [email protected] or [email protected], or telephonically at 061-444450/1/2/3/4.

The public is further encouraged to visit the Roads Authority’s website for detailed information on permit requirements.
