It took IShowSpeed to remind us what we have

Wonder Guchu

Global streamer IShowSpeed held up an unfiltered mirror to us as he moved through places we pass without a second glance, his surprise, curiosity and genuine excitement reminded us of something uncomfortable: we often fail to see what we have. Wherever IShowSpeed went, crowds gathered, cameras followed, and suddenly familiar streets, landmarks and cultural moments felt newly important. Not because they had changed, but because someone from outside reacted to them with wonder. His presence did what years of official branding campaigns often struggle to achieve. It made ordinary places feel visible again. Namibia is no exception. We live among vast landscapes, layered histories and resilient communities, yet we have normalised them into the background of daily survival. It takes an outsider’s amazement to remind us that what feels routine can be extraordinary to the rest of the world. This should not embarrass us, but challenge us. Pride should not wait for validation from visitors or viral moments. If IShowSpeed’s visit leaves us with anything lasting, it should be a renewed ability to see our continent clearly, before someone else has to point it out to us.
