Anglers conquer tough fishing conditions
The Namibia Bass Angling Association (NBAA) hosted the Bank Windhoek National NBAA Competition at Lake Oanob last Saturday.
The turnout was good, with 20 boats and 25 anglers participating.
Fishing conditions were tough as a cold front hit central Namibia on Friday and continued through Saturday.
Anglers faced cold and windy conditions which, together with a low water level, made for challenging fishing conditions.
The anglers braved the conditions and still managed to catch a fair number of fish. Sixteen fish made it to the scale, with a total weight of 25.107 kg.
“It is with great excitement that we announce that this was the first tournament at which we could showcase and use our new weighing station,” said Richard Grant, chairman of the NBAA.
“The weighing station has been in planning for many years now and the NBAA started construction at the beginning of this year. Last weekend was a test run for the weighing station and it passed with flying colours.”
The NBAA thanked the sponsors that made the dream of a world-class weighing station a reality.
This was the last national competition for the year.
Next up are the Bank Windhoek National Trials on 22 and 23 October where the national team for 2017 will be chosen.
