Aboutrika slams Fifa’s 'double standards'

Kickoff Egypt legend Mohamed Aboutrika has accused Fifa of having double standards following their suspension of Russia from all competitions.On Monday, UEFA and Fifa announced that they had suspended Russia from their competitions with immediate effect due to their invasion of Ukraine.The decision was made after various football federations in Europe, including England and Poland, called for the nation's clubs and national teams to be banned from all international competitions.The Northern Europeans are now at risk of being dumped out of the 2022 Fifa World Cup, and will be eliminated from qualification if they remain suspended by the time they have to face Poland in a qualifying play-off, which has since been postponed. Across the boardHowever, former Al Ahly star Aboutrika feels the world football governing body should apply the same action across the board and not just in instances involving European countries, citing the conflict between Palestine and Israel, per KingFut."The decision to suspend Russian clubs and national teams from all competitions must be followed by a ban on the teams affiliated with Israel, who have been killing children and women in Palestine for years.
