The Gommie Sorting

Every January, individuals from diverse schools come together to officially join our Gimmie community!However, before earning the prestigious red tie, they had to first undergo the tradition known as “Gommie Sorting” – a process which is not only a ceremony but also a test of resilience and demanding dedication.The Gommie ConcertOne of the highlights of this journey was the “Gommies Got Talent” concert. This concert captivated the audience with different performances from various groups and sections.The energy was electric, keeping everyone on their feet. One of the most memorable performances was the wedding scene - a perfect blend of fun, seriousness, and personal reflection! And of course, you guessed it, they proudly lifted the cup as the winners of the concert!The LRCs did an excellent job organising this concert, making it an unforgettable experience for both them and the Gommies. This event was not only about talent but also highlighted the special, unbreakable bond within our Gimmie community!Gommie reviews“My journey as a Gommie has been a rollercoaster of emotions. My worst moment was when I fell in front of the whole school, and my best was when the first team rugby guys approached me and said I’m good at rugby!”Most of the Gommies said their favourite part of their journey was the swimming gala or the concert, so we can conclude that they are glad to join a school like Windhoek Gymnasium, with such brilliant LRCs, and to go through a wonderful tradition before becoming an official member of the Gimmie Community!
