Meatco has been awarded a bronze award in the Industrial Category at the 2026 Namibia Blood Transfusion Service (NamBTS) Recognition Awards for its continued commitment to voluntary blood donation.

The award was presented at a ceremony earlier this month, held as part of the annual World Blood Donor Day commemorations. It recognises organisations that actively encourage employees to donate blood.

Through regular blood donation drives organised by the Meatco Clinic, the company contributes to Namibia's national blood supply and supports efforts to save lives.

Meatco's interim chief executive officer, Albertus Aochamub, thanked employees for their ongoing participation. “This award belongs to every Meatco employee who has donated blood over the years. Your generosity has helped save lives and demonstrates the compassion and community spirit that define our organisation,” he said.

He encouraged more employees to take part in future donation drives, saying every unit of donated blood could make a life-changing difference.

The latest recognition follows previous awards, with Meatco receiving gold in 2024 and bronze in 2025.

This year's awards were held under the theme: “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives,” highlighting the role of voluntary blood donors and organisations in maintaining a safe and sustainable national blood supply.
