Unlicenced NDF soldier rams into wall
• Driver, passengers sustain minor injuries
The police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving as well as driving without a licence.
The police have revealed the identity of a driver who rammed his Toyota Hilux bakkie into a wall at a T-Junction in Rundu in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Elifas Petrus Ndokosho (52) is a member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF).
According to a police report availed 24 hours after the incident, the accident took place at around 01:00 on Tuesday morning when Ndokosho, who was travelling with two passengers, drove recklessly towards the T-junction. This saw the vehicle crossing the road and ramming into a concrete wall.
The wall is about 20 metres from road.
Ndokosho sustained an open cut on his chin and is currently admitted in the Rundu State Hospital.
The two passengers were identified as 44-year-old Kandjengo Mateus, who sustained an open cut on the right arm, and 42-year-old Haitana Itha Haifana who sustained right arm bruises.
Both Mateus and Haifana were treated and discharged.
The police have indicated that they are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving as well as driving a motor vehicle on a public road without a driver's licence.
No arrests have been made as the driver is still hospitalised.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
