Tsumeb pensioners, people with disabilities urged to register for municipal incentives
The Tsumeb municipality has urged qualifying pensioners and people living with disabilities who own property to register for municipal incentives for the 2026/27 financial year before the end of March.
In a public notice, acting CEO Frans Enkali said eligible property owners must register by 31 March, adding that late applications will not be considered.
Enkali said the municipality’s credit control policy allows qualifying pensioner homeowners to benefit from several incentives. These include exemption from interest on arrears, exemption from basic water charges, and a 40% reduction on basic household refuse and sewerage charges compared with standard residential tariffs.
Registration deadline
He stressed that pensioners must register in person each year between January and March to remain eligible for the incentives.
He explained further that persons with disabilities may also qualify for the same incentives, subject to a thorough assessment by the municipality.
"The assessment outcome will be submitted to the accountant, who will then recommend approval to the manager for finance,” Enkali said.
Applicants are required to submit their municipal account, identification document and proof of disability when registering.
For further information, residents may contact the assistant accountant for debts, Connie Simasiku, or Selma Nuugulu at 067-221056.
