Raped teen gives birth
News in short
A 13-year-old girl gave birth at Oshikuku last month after she was reportedly raped by an 18-year-old man.
Omusati police regional commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, said the suspect allegedly repeatedly raped the girl after inviting her to a house where he works as a livestock herder.
“As a result, the minor fell pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy in November.”
The matter was only reported to the police recently by a social worker from the gender equality, poverty eradication and child welfare ministry, and a case has since been opened.
Basson said the suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in court this week.
