Kavango West man beats wife to death
Over the weekend in a village in the Kavango West Region, a 33-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly beat and kicked his wife to death.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Kristine Intumba Kambanzera.
In another incident, a 32-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing her 41-year-old boyfriend, Terence Trinity Petersen, in his neck, causing him to die on the spot.
"The suspect and the deceased were drinking and argued before she stabbed the deceased. Both the suspect and deceased were employed at Farm Josephine in Dordabis,” the Namibian Police said.
Attempted murder
Another case of attempted murder, read with the provisions of the Combatting of Domestic Violence Act, was reported in Mariental when a 26-year-old man walked into a bottle store and stabbed a 26-year-old woman who was working behind the counter.
"He demanded her phone and she refused to give it to him. The suspect then grabbed a knife that the complainant used earlier to cut bread with and started to stab her in her left arm and also in her head.
“The victim managed to run out of the shop. In the meantime, her colleagues came to her rescue. She went to the hospital and then to the police station but decided not to lay a charge and only opted for a protection order," police said.
However, when the victim returned home, the suspect tried to stab her again.
Her sister, who was with her at the time, alerted the neighbours and the knife was taken from the suspect, police said.
The man has yet to be arrested. Police investigations continue.
Suicide
Meanwhile, last Friday, Josephina Angaleni Anongeni (50) died by suicide.
"Her lifeless body was found hanging with a rope around her neck from a tree near their homestead by a domestic worker. A suicide note was found in the pocket of the deceased's trousers," a police report into the matter read.
In another suicide, Salon Natangwe Nangolo (27) was found hanging by a wire over the weekend.
"While with his cousins, Nangolo informed one of them that he was going to pick up something from his girlfriend's place in Okuryangava. When he returned, he informed his cousin that he found his girlfriend with another man.
“Later, Nangolo's cousin called him for dinner, but he refused. After a while, the cousin went to check up on him but found him hanging from the roof.
“The cousin took pliers and cut the wire, hoping [Nangolo] was still alive, but unfortunately he was already dead. No suicide note was found.”
