Intelligence service records clean audit, Kandjeke says
Auditor general (AG) Junias Kandjeke has issued an unqualified audit opinion for the Namibia Central Intelligence Service (NCIS) for the financial year ending 31 March 2025, finding that the agency’s financial statements comply, in all material respects, with the State Finance Act.
The clean audit indicates that the intelligence service properly accounted for its revenue and expenditure in line with Namibia’s public finance laws.
The audit shows that the service spent N$10.3 million on capital development projects during the year under review, the largest expenditure category highlighted.
While some details were not disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the institution, the allocation points to continued investment in the intelligence service’s infrastructure and operational capacity.
The report further shows that N$1.1 million was spent on bursary and study assistance, benefiting 42 recipients.
The spending reflects a strategic focus on skills development within the security sector, regarded as key to strengthening institutional capacity.
The service spent N$297 900 on staff wellness activities, the report shows.
Two financial and asset inspections were conducted across all offices and regional stations during the year under review.
The agency also recorded N$374 810 in miscellaneous revenue during the year.
Kandjeke confirmed that the financial statements, including standard subdivisions, departmental revenue, notes to the accounts and related disclosures, fairly present the financial position of the service.
