Insatiable 'ghost' terrorises

A family of 13 at Ouhongo village in Ohangwena Region is left traumatised after they allegedly suffered at the hands of a ghost for a week.

According to one of the family members, Fransina Haufiku (44), the children were playing under a tree when they were abruptly pelted with stones by an invisible entity.

She said the children ran into the yard, but the ghost continued to throw items at them, including stones and beer bottles.

"The ghost kept beating and throwing us for one week; luckily no one got hurt. We kept moving from one house to another in the yard because the ghost would attack us," she stressed.

False promises

When Namibian Sun visited the homestead, damage was visible on the doors and windows of their house and in the yard.

Haufiku claimed the ghost spoke in a male voice to them multiple times, demanding money before it would stop attacking them.

"Which we did, but nothing changed; it still came back," she said.

The ghost, she said, asked for N$600 and instructed them to place the money at the entrance of the kraal. Although the family obeyed the ghost's instructions, she said it still came back, and asked for another N$200.

"We gave this ghost N$800 because we wanted the attacks to end. We did not know what to do, but nothing changed," she said.

Help found

The desperate family visited a local church for help.

Haufiku said following feedback from the church, they fired their cattle herder because the church claimed he was responsible for the paranormal activities.

"We got a certain oil, and we were told that the Angolan national we had employed as a cattle herder in December was the one who turned into a ghost and attacked us," Haufiku recounted.

She told Namibian Sun that they were shocked when they heard this, as the man had been present during the supernatural events.

"We would like to urge people to be careful when employing Angolans because the person could be a ghost, and after we fired him last Tuesday, all these attacks stopped," she stressed.

Haufiku, however, said they remain afraid and traumatised.

Asser Haufiku (84), the owner of the homestead, said: "It devastated me. I have been on this earth for a long time, but I have never experienced anything of this kind."
