Agriculture, fisheries, water and land reform minister Inge Zaamwani on Thursday tabled a motion in parliament seeking leave to introduce a bill aimed at transforming land management in Namibia.

“This comprehensive legislation will establish communal land boards, regulate communal land rights and empower traditional authorities," the minister said.

Zaamwani-Kamwi added that the bill also focuses on land acquisition for reform, ensures preferential state purchase of commercial agricultural land, and prohibits foreign land ownership.
