Street traders, mayor unite for cleaner market
On Saturday, Windhoek mayor Sakaria Uunona joined traders at Stop n Shop for the eighth edition of the Mayoral Clean-Up Campaign at the open market.
Armed with brooms, refuse bags and a shared sense of civic responsibility, participants worked together to remove litter and improve the market’s surroundings. The clean-up effort also attracted volunteers from Rent-A-Drum, Namica Supermarket and NUST students.
“The activity at Stop n Shop forms part of the City’s commitment to bringing the campaign directly to communities, ensuring that every constituency becomes an active participant in building a cleaner and more sustainable Windhoek,” Uunona said.
The mayor commended traders for their enthusiastic participation, highlighting the importance of maintaining hygienic trading spaces.
