Man immediately sentenced for attacking prosecutor
News in short
Magistrate Nelao Ya France has sentenced Jeremia Nadhipite Shipanga (29) to three months in jail for contempt of court after he threw a shoe and charged at a female state prosecutor in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon.
He was making a first appearance after allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend.
Shipanga, from Okadhimeti village in the Okaku area, was furious after he pleaded guilty but could not be sentenced immediately.
This is because his girlfriend still had to testify, as pointed out by the prosecutor.
Shipanga then threw his shoe at the prosecutor and tried to attack her physically before police subdued him.
Magistrate Ya France sentenced him immediately for the incident.
