ACC arrests govt officials

Two officials of the ministry of urban and rural development were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) recently for allegedly using a government fuel card to buy six tyres for a private vehicle for N$6 850. They were identified as senior administrative officer Leilla Martin (33) and ministerial driver Vilho Iimene (36).
“It is alleged that four of the purchased tyres were fitted on the private vehicle and the other two were loaded in the same vehicle,” a statement read.
Martin and Iimene were granted bail of N$1 500 each in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court last week. The matter has been remanded to 17 November for further investigations.
