Namibia welcomes UN’s call for Gaza ceasefire
News in short
Namibia has welcomed the adoption of Resolution 2728 by the United Nations Security Council, which demands an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and calls for the release of all hostages.
According to the international relations ministry, the adoption of the resolution “is a welcome relief for the people of Gaza, who have endured constant bombardment”.
The conflict has left about 32 333 people dead, including more than 13 000 children and about 8 400 women, while over 74 694 people have been injured.
“Namibia continues to encourage a peaceful solution that will not only end in a permanent ceasefire, but also two states living side by side in peace," the ministry said.
