Unam hosts prostate cancer summit

NEWS IN SHORT
George Dinyando
Unam's Hage Geingob campus hosted the inaugural Southern African Prostate Cancer Summit last week, bringing together representatives from seven countries to discuss strategies for improved cancer care, diagnosis and policy implementation across the region.

Speaking at the opening, health minister Esperance Luvindao outlined the goals of the summit, highlighting the urgent need to consolidate regional data, share best practices and establish clear funding priorities to address the growing burden of prostate cancer in the region.

“It’s been our goal to strive for a time where cancer is seen as a manageable condition, diagnosed early and treated effectively in regions across the continent. A solution anchored in culture, policies driven by data and not assumptions, and supported by compassion above stigma," said Luvindao.
